Helpful Hangout

Helpful Hangout is a weekly academic support for 6th-12th graders at Apex HQ. This is a safe space for youth to complete homework, study, and get tutoring assistance from peers and volunteers. Youth are invited to bring their friends and snacks are provided.

Trek2Connect

Trek2Connect is a monthly, excursion-based program with a 7 year trajectory from 6th grade through high school graduation. T2C focuses on raising student’s aspirations in both academics and life through adventure based activities, community service projects, and cultural experiences. Our programming incorporates eight different educational themes: environmental awareness, empathy and connection, sports, sciences, culture, history, career exploration, and post-secondary exploration. T2C’s success is based in large part on volunteer support. In the summer, we connect with Apex’s Exploration and Adventure program to provide outdoor expeditions throughout the area. This includes a special T2C leadership training for youth along with other outdoor focused activities.

​Trek2Connect 9th Grade

During 9th grade, members of Trek2Connect are offered an extra excursion and/or meeting every month which allows them to build teamwork and leadership skills. This better prepares youth for the T2C LEADers program and high school.

Trek2Connect LEADers

Trek2Connect LEADers is open to 10th-12th graders who are interested in learning leadership, life skills and more. LEADers create, market, budget, and plan all of the Trek2Connect excursions with volunteer, mentor, and staff supervision.
