Apex Youth Connection is a youth-serving, mentor-based nonprofit that gets Biddeford-Saco area youth “out there” – connecting with their community, with the great outdoors, and with their futures. The Communications & Outreach Specialist, a new full-time position, is critical in moving Apex into our next phase of growth and is a key part of Apex’s outward-facing work. The primary function of the COS is to form relationships throughout the community and to compellingly communicate with those people, as well as the general public, about our programs and our youth. The hours are flexible, with some weekend and evening hours required.
The COS will contribute through both communications and outreach:
Specific communication responsibilities include content creation for and/or management of

3) digital and print media
4) community and donor relations efforts
5) a monthly newsletter
Specific outreach responsibilities include
1) targeted community events and coordination
2) community referrals
3) community & family engagement

He/she/they will have strong coordination and organizational skills, as well as the ability to understand and act on written and verbal communication in a fast-paced, professional environment. While the successful candidate will work closely with a visionary team of professionals, he/she/they must be able to operate with a great deal of independence as well.
